Congratulations to Dr. Coffman on successfully completing Board Certification with the passing of her board exams!
After 4 years of medical school and 4 years of residency physicians must pass several licensing exams during their residency prior to graduation. Physicians take a written board exam upon graduation but must be in practice at least two years to take the final oral board certification exam administered by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The oral exam involves an extensive question and answer style test format. During the day long exam doctors answer questions about treating specific cases and why similar cases would have different treatment approaches.
In short, achieving board certification is a big deal, a significant time commitment and the culmination of many years of dedicated hard work and study. More information about board certification can be found here.
Dr. Coffman has been practicing at The Women’s Clinic since 2017 and bilingual in English and Spanish. There was much excitement on Wednesday when Dr. Coffman received the good news and all of us at the clinic hope this means a little more sleep, a little less stress and a little more time to enjoy!
