Danger Signals of Postpartum

Call the office if you have any of the following:

  • Excessive, prolonged bleeding or clotting such as repeatedly soaking through one (or more) sanitary pad per hour
  • Frequency of urination
  • Burning with urination
  • Severe lower abdominal or pelvic pain
  • Severe episiotomy pain, swelling, or separation
  • Hard, warm, tender, or reddened area on the breast
  • Sore or cracked nipples
  • Chills
  • Fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Pain, red streaks, or warm areas on the calf of your leg
